Classic Sci-Fi.

Until recent years, The Hunt for the Meteor was the only one of Jules Verne's posthumous works to be translated and published in Britain; it appeared, however, under a title which revealed its secret prematurely. Its chief interest is that it shows that towards the end of his life Verne was still keeping abreast with contemporary developments in science, notably the theory of the electrical nature of matter - and here there is even an inkling of the theory of 'continuous creation', recently put forward by Professor Fred Hoyle. (Notes on his application of this theory are given in the Appendix). [from this publication's Introduction, 1965]
